$25 on the 25^th Campaign

The AALAS Foundation is thrilled to celebrate our 25^th anniversary and are doing so by setting ourselves with an ambitious goal for our “Silver Jubilee” year:

250 donations of $25 on the 25^th of each month!

In commemorating this significant milestone anniversary, we are thrilled to commence our journey into the next twenty-five years with the launch of our “Speak Up & Reach Out” initiative. This program is designed to bolster our mission of spotlighting the heroic individuals and animals dedicated to advancing medical progress.

You can help with our new “Speak Up & Reach Out” initiative by participating in our $25 on the 25^th campaign. Between now and December 31, 2024, supporters who give $25 (or more) on the 25^th of each month will receive a commemorative 25^th anniversary gift, along with special recognition on our website, social media, and at the 2024 AALAS National Meeting.

In 1999, the AALAS Foundation officially became a standalone 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since then, our commitment has been unwavering, focused on raising public awareness about the indispensable role of animals in biomedical research. Additionally, we strive to shape the future workforce by imparting knowledge to students, enlightening them about the fascinating career opportunities available in the realm of Laboratory Animal Science. Join us as we continue our journey, dedicated to education and fostering a promising future in the field.

2023 Celebrate the Mouse Biomedical Research Video Essay Contest

How Has a Mouse Helped You – Or Someone You Know? National Student Biomedical Research Competition

This contest asks students to develop a creative, educational and informative video essay to explain how they, a family member, friend, or pet, have benefited from medical discoveries made possible thanks to work conducted with mice in biomedical research.

The AALAS Foundation is holding its Silent Auction at the 74th Annual AALAS National Meeting. Proceeds from this fun-filled event support the AALAS Foundation’s efforts to educate the public about the essential role of animals in research and education.

To donate to the AALAS Foundation Silent Auction, please fill out our auction contribution form here. Auction donation pledges received by August 15th will be recognized in the AALAS National Meeting Program.

The AALAS Foundation is holding its annual Silent and Live Auction during the 72nd Annual AALAS National Meeting!

The Silent Auction will be held VIRTUAL ONLY  - a link to the virtual online auction will be posted in early October.   

The Live Auction will be held in person at the AALAS National Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, immediately following the Appreciation Reception on Wednesday evening, October 20, 2021.

Proceeds from both of these events support the AALAS Foundation’s efforts to educate the public about the essential role of animals in research and education.

We Want to Know: What’s Your Favorite Research Animal – and Why?

The AALAS Foundation is conducting a video contest so we can educate and inform the public more about the amazing animals working in biomedical research and the reasons why professionals working in the field of laboratory animal science love working with all the many varieties of animals and caring for them.

Enter the contest and be a part of our fun quest to gather more videos to share with the public about the incredible animals and people working to help advance medical discoveries. Oh, and to make it even more fun for you, there are CASH PRIZES to be won, too!

Click here for the official contest rules, but, in a nutshell, here's what to do:

How to Enter

• Complete the Official Online Registration form
  
• Once registered, you'll receive a unique registration number with more instructions about how to submit your video for entry.
• Create and submit a video (one minute or less in length) stating:
• Your favorite research animal to work with
• Why is it your favorite?
• Is there a special, or little known fact about your favorite animal species?

There is NO ENTRY FEE and you may register and submit multiple video entries!

The Deadline to enter and submit a video is December 31, 2021, at 11:59 pm CST.

How to Win
All videos will be placed on the AALAS Foundation's Celebrate Animal Research & Education (CARE) YouTube channel.  
The videos receiving the most "thumbs-ups" by noon, CST, on January 10, 2022 will be declared winners.

We will post the videos as soon as they are received, so, the earlier you send us your video, the more time it will have to receive "thumbs-ups".
