What is it?

The Ann Turner CARE Academy is a public outreach training program designed to train and prepare AALAS members in their public outreach efforts.

The goal of the academy is to help AALAS members feel more confident and comfortable utilizing the AALAS Foundation's resources and speaking to the public about the important role of animals in biomedical research.

The academy is a biennial program to be held in the Spring at the AALAS National Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee.

Who is Eligible to Attend?

The academy will accommodate a maximum of twenty-five (25) AALAS members each year. Attendees must be AALAS members. 

Cost to Attend?

There is no cost to attend The Ann Turner CARE Academy; however, all attendees must pay for their own travel expenses. The AALAS Foundation will cover the following expenses:

Why?

The future of Laboratory Animal Science is greatly dependent on the public's view and opinion of animals in biomedical research. 

A strong future work force in the field of laboratory animal science is dependent on the effective education of young students about career opportunities available in the field.

Successful public outreach will help better inform the public about the important role of animals in biomedical research and will help ensure a strong future work force in the field of laboratory animal science.
