Julia (Rosset) Granowski was born in Highland Park, Illinois and was a graduate of Wheeling High School. Julia married Gene Granowski in 1984, they soon moved to Colorado where she attended Colorado Mountain College for her Vet Tech training.
After working in a Vet clinic for thirteen years, Julia began her career in animal research in 1995 as a veterinary technician at Colorado State University. In 2001 she moved on to become the Operations Manager at National Jewish Health for twelve years before her final position as Operations Manager for the Office of Animal Resources at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Julia was very involved with the Mile High Branch AALAS as well as National AALAS; she had her RLATG certification, was a proud ILAM graduate, and was the U.S. recipient of the AAALAC International Fellowship Award in 2008.
Julia was a devoted mother of two children, Megan LeCornu and Kyle Granowski. An avid outdoors woman, she enjoyed camping, hunting, boating and snowmobiling with her family.
After a long battle with cancer, Julia passed away June 15, 2019. Her catch phrase ‘it is what it is’, her warm smile and contagious laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
