Jerry Shapiro

August 2, 1929 - January 11, 2017

Jerry was born in Port Chester, New York on August 4, 1929. He graduated from Port Chester High School and attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He then enlisted in the Air force where he served as an MP.

Jerry and his partner founded Pharmacal Research Labs, Inc. in 1976 where he served as Vice President, President, and CFO throughout his long career.  He also served as president of the Allied Trades Association and received various awards for his contribution to the industry.  

Jerry was a remarkable individual both in his private life and in business. In the field of laboratory animal science, Jerry recognized and filled the need for quality environmental care for the animals. He was well known for his vision, work ethic, honesty, and positive attitude.

He will be remembered for his love of animals, sense of humor, and generous spirit. He loved people and his friendships were many.

Jerry will be greatly missed by AALAS and the AALAS Foundation community.
