July 30, 1964 – June 14, 2020
Darrell received his veterinary degree from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He completed a veterinary residency in primatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and studied cardiovascular pharmacology at the Warner-Lambert Company. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1993, Darrell had an interesting and extensive career as a Laboratory Animal Veterinarian. In early 2002, Darrell Hoskins, then District 4 Trustee of National AALAS, initiated efforts to revitalize the Mid-South AALAS Branch. Darrell was always willing to share his considerable knowledge and expertise with the research community. He also loved the pursuit of scientific discovery. He was a kind and thoughtful man who spent his life seeking ways to improve research and the lives of animals and people. He was a loyal friend, an honest leader, and a committed scientist who enriched the life of everyone around him in so many ways. Darrell is greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Give in memory of Dr. Darrell Hoskins and help keep his passion alive through the AALAS Foundation.
