Open Positions on the AALAS Foundation Board of Directors Perhaps one of the most rewarding ways to contribute your time and abilities is to join the AALAS Foundation Board of Directors. How are AALAS Foundation Directors-at-Large appointed? Existing AALAS Foundation Board members choose one person from the list of qualified applicants to be Directors-at-Large. New board members take office at the end of the AALAS National Meeting. What are the terms of appointment? AALAS Foundation Directors-at-Large serve a three-year term. To ensure continuity, board members' terms are staggered so that approximately one-third of the membership rotates off each year, and an equal number of new members are appointed. What are the responsibilities of a Foundation board member? Board members work together under direction of the chair to carry out standing and current strategic plan objectives. Board members also attend all meetings and participate in discussions via email and phone. What meetings will I have to attend? The AALAS Foundation Board has a mid-year meeting in May or June and an annual meeting at the AALAS National Meeting, plus three or four teleconferences throughout the year. The AALAS Foundation Board of Directors does not reimburse travel, but travel expenses are calculated as an in-kind donation to the Foundation. If you are interested in becoming an AALAS Foundation Board member, please send a resume and/or CV and a brief statement of your goals as an AALAS Foundation Director-at-Large to foundation@aalas.org. © American Association for Laboratory Animal Science Foundation.
